4/9/24 Seminar: "Evaluating Preventive Interventions for Long COVID Through Targeted Machine Learning"

Join us next week to hear a talk from Zach Butzin-Dozier in our CTMLSpring 2024 Seminar Series. His talk on "Evaluating Preventive Interventions for Long COVID Through Targeted Machine Learning" will take place on April 9 at 12 PM.“In this presentation, I will discuss two studies that applied a Targeted Machine Learning approach to data from N3C. First, I will present our findings from the Long COVID Computational Challenge, where we created an ensemble machine learning model to predict individual risk of Long COVID diagnosis. Next, I will discuss our analysis of the relationship between selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) use during acute COVID infection and subsequent Long COVID risk. We found that, among individuals with depression, SSRI use during COVID-19 infection was protective against Long COVID. This provides support for the hypothesis that serotonin may be a mechanistic biomarker of Long COVID.”
