Andrew Mertens, PhD, MS, MA, is an research data analysist and lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the causes and consequences of poor child growth and development in low and middle income countries, and on how water, sanitation, hygiene, and nutritional interventions affect the causal pathways leading to poor growth and development. His methodological interests are in individual-participant data meta-analyses, causal inference, trial design, and replication and transparency in science. He obtained his PhD in Epidemiology, MA in Biostatistics, and MS in Environmental Health Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
